HEKAN DCC Ungwan Kanawa was formed alongside other pioneer DCCs in the year 1983. At inception, DCC Ungwan kanawa was composed of 3 LCCs. They are LCC Ungwan Kanawa, Ungwan Rimi and Badarawa. Later on, the DCC established two other LCCs, they are Malali and Hayin Banki, this addition brought the LCCs in the DCC to 5. DCC Ungwan Kanawa suffered series of destruction during virtually all the religious crises in Kaduna. The churches in Ungwan Kanawa and Badarawa have been destroyed many times, destroying all the useful records of the DCC. Scanty information was gotten from individuals to be able to put this brief history of the DCC. Due to incessant religious crisis, the DCC was forced to move out of Kaduna North to the southern part of the metropolis. This led to the decision by the GCC to split the DCC into two for administrative purposes. The DCCs created were DCC Ungwan Rimi and DCC Ungwan Maigero. LCC badarawa was later marged with DCC Television.
Today, DCC Ungwan Kanawa no longer exists, as it has been replaced by the two new DCCs. Prior to its splitting, the following clergies were DCC Chairmen
