DCC Lagos was created as a result of the rapid growth of the LCCs within the area. Three strong LCCs, namely Obalende, Ikeja and Ikoyi were merged to form the new DCC. Since its inception, the DCC has continued to grow from strength to strength. Today there are 5 LCCs and several Local Church Branches. Today the DCC has also extended to several states in the South Western Parts of Nigeria. There are churches in Ogun, Oyo and Ondo states, Efforts are still on in creating more churches in the southern part of the country.
Lagos DCC has developed both in physical and spiritual aspects. The challenge the DCC is also facing is the order by the police authorities for the churches within police barracks to vacate and either leave the buildings for the police chaplaincy or demolish them. Efforts are being made to resolve the matter amicably with the authorities.
GCC later on decided to split the DCC into two, creating a new DCC; DCC Ikeja out of the present DCC Lagos. This happened in the year 2011. DCC Ikeja effective date of operating as a DCC was 1/1/2012
